The Quickball Division in Devon Strafford has replaced the traditional Tee Ball for children ages 4, 5, and 6, focusing on providing a fun, educational, and inclusive introduction to baseball basics. The league follows the Little League Baseball rules, not softball, and has a birthday cutoff date of August 31 to determine league age.
Key Features of the Quickball Program:
- Age Group: Designed for children aged 4, 5, and 6. Each age group plays as a separate division.
- Focus: Teaches fundamental baseball skills, teamwork, and hustle in a stress-free environment.
- Schedule:
- For 4- and 5-year-olds: Teams practice and play on Saturday mornings at local fields.
- For 6-year-olds: Teams also meet on Saturday mornings. There may be optional weekday practices set by the coach.
- Season Duration: Runs from late April to mid-June.
- Coaching: Parent volunteers coach the teams. Parents are highly encouraged to attend an annual training session before the season begins to ensure everyone is prepared.
- Registration: Parents and players are asked to indicate any preferences for specific coaches or teammates when registering.
This program ensures that young children are introduced to the basics of the game in a way that emphasizes fun, cooperation, and skill development.
